Country: Aruba, the Netherlands
As per tradition, Julie and Xiomara spend the day of Lighting Parade in Pariba together. They do the things they always do, like going to Taco Bell, talking about other people’s instagrams, and brainstorming outfit ideas. Pariba follows these two best friends who need to deal with the fact that they won’t ever see each other as they are now. Every year, hundreds of students from the Dutch Caribbean leave their islands to pursue a higher education in the Netherlands. This means leaving everything they have ever known behind to begin a new life from scratch.
