𝗩𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗼𝘂𝘄 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗸 (From Leek to Aouw Steek) is a documentary that explores the rich history and vibrant traditions of carnival in Klompengat, the Carnival name for Best, a town just northwest of Eindhoven in the province of Noord-Brabant, one of the, if not the, Carnaval province of the Netherlands. The film takes viewers on a journey through the past and present of this unique celebration, highlighting the evolution of Carnival and its impact on the local community. Through interviews with participants, archival footage, and immersive visuals, the documentary offers an in-depth look at the significance of Carnival for the residents of Klompengat and particularly for Prins Rik d’n Urste, the town’s Carnival prince. It shows how this tradition is not just a festival, but also an essential part of the cultural identity and sense of togetherness within the community. The film takes viewers to the heart of this tradition, where satire, creativity, and community spirit come together in an explosion of color, music, and humor. Through interviews with participating carnival groups, footage of the preparations, and the parade itself, the documentary shows how the people of Aalst — known as ‘Oilsjt’ in the local dialect — shape their identity and social commentary through floats, costumes, and songs. The film highlights both the rich history and the contemporary challenges of the carnival, including discussions around inclusivity and cultural sensitivities. Caribbean Creativity is an Amsterdam-based non-profit organization that, since 2008, is committed to the programming and promotion of Caribbean and Caribbean-themed cinema in the Netherlands. Over the years, Caribbean Creativity has hosted over 300 screenings in film theatres and at film festivals, including numerous premieres. In 2020, they hosted their first film festival, the Marley75 Film Festival, in Melkweg Cinema and various other venues across Amsterdam. That very same year, they launched YardVibes, a streaming platform featuring content from independent Caribbean and African filmmakers, where they offer over 100 titles and host online film programs, such as the annual Global Extraction Film Festival (2020-2022). Africadelic is a non-profit organization that, since 2016, is committed to the programming and promotion of African and African diasporic cultural creativity, diversity and activism in the Netherlands. Each year on and around International Africa Day (May 25), they organize the Africacadelic Festival in Paradiso and various other partner venues across Amsterdam. This year, the 10th edition of the festival was held from May 21-31, 2025, with a special focus on the 50th anniversary of independence (1975) of five African countries (Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, São Tomé & Príncipe, and the Comoros) as well as Suriname. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗱𝘆𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘆, over T+T Carnaval – vaak ‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵’ genoemd – tot hedendaagse documentaires en korte films over Carnaval wereldwijd, met een bijzondere focus op het 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗵 𝗴𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗱 (𝗛𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶, 𝗖𝘂𝗯𝗮, 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮, 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗼 en de 𝗕𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗮’𝘀), maar ook op 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗢𝗿𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀, 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻, 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺, 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 en 𝗔𝗮𝗹𝘀𝘁, biedt het 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 een filmische reis naar de roots en ritmes van Carnaval wereldwijd. 

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆
Caribbean Creativity is een non-profitorganisatie gevestigd in Amsterdam die zich sinds 2008 inzet voor het programmeren en promoten van Caribische en Caribisch-gethematiseerde cinema in Nederland. Caribbean Creativity heeft meer dan 300 filmvertoningen georganiseerd in bioscopen en op filmfestivals, inclusief diverse premières. In 2020 organiseerden ze hun eerste filmfestival, het Marley75 Film Festival, in Melkweg Cinema en andere locaties in Amsterdam. Datzelfde jaar lanceerden ze ook YardVibes, een streamingplatform met content van onafhankelijke Caribische en Afrikaanse filmmakers, met meer dan 100 titels en online filmprogramma’s zoals het jaarlijkse Global Extraction Film Festival (2020-2022). 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰
Africadelic is een non-profitorganisatie die zich sinds 2016 inzet voor het programmeren en promoten van Afrikaanse en Afrikaanse diasporische culturele creativiteit, diversiteit en activisme in Nederland. Jaarlijks organiseren zij rondom Internationale Afrikadag (25 mei) het Africadelic Festival in Paradiso en op diverse andere locaties in Amsterdam. Dit jaar vond de 10e editie plaats van 21-31 mei 2025, met speciale aandacht voor de 50e verjaardag van de onafhankelijkheid (1975) van vijf Afrikaanse landen (Angola, Mozambique, Kaapverdië, Sao Tomé & Principe en de Comoren) en Suriname.
