Caribbean Creativity is an Amsterdam-based non-profit organization that, since 2008, is committed to the programming and promotion of Caribbean and Caribbean-themed cinema in the Netherlands. Over the years, Caribbean Creativity has hosted over 300 screenings in film theatres and at film festivals, including numerous premieres. In 2020, they hosted their first film festival, the Marley75 Film Festival, in Melkweg Cinema and various other venues across Amsterdam. That very same year, they launched YardVibes, a streaming platform featuring content from independent Caribbean and African filmmakers, where they offer over 100 titles and host online film programs, such as the annual Global Extraction Film Festival (2020-2022). Africadelic is a non-profit organization that, since 2016, is committed to the programming and promotion of African and African diasporic cultural creativity, diversity and activism in the Netherlands. Each year on and around International Africa Day (May 25), they organize the Africacadelic Festival in Paradiso and various other partner venues across Amsterdam. This year, the 10th edition of the festival was held from May 21-31, 2025, with a special focus on the 50th anniversary of independence (1975) of five African countries (Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Sรฃo Tomรฉ & Prรญncipe, and the Comoros) as well as Suriname. Ze ontdekt de oorsprong van de samba, geworteld in de veerkracht, vreugde, spiritualiteit en het verzet van de Afro-Braziliaanse gemeenschap. Door Aleksiaโs ogen laat ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐น๐ต๐ฎ๐ผ zien hoe samba voortkwam uit generaties van strijd en feest, en hoe deze muziek vandaag nog steeds een krachtig cultureel symbool is.

Deze documentaire kijkt naar de diepe sociale, economische en politieke gevolgen van het stilleggen van een van โs werelds meest levendige en verbindende festivals. Via de stemmen van muzikanten, dansers, ambachtslieden en organisatoren toont de film zowel het verdriet als de veerkracht die voortkwamen uit de afwezigheid van Carnaval. Caribbean Creativity is een non-profitorganisatie in Amsterdam die sinds 2008 werkt aan de programmering en promotie van Caribische en Caribisch-geรฏnspireerde cinema in Nederland. Door de jaren heen heeft Caribbean Creativity meer dan 300 filmvertoningen georganiseerd in bioscopen en op filmfestivals, waaronder talrijke premiรจres. In 2020 organiseerden ze hun eerste filmfestival, het Marley75 Film Festival, in Melkweg Cinema en diverse andere locaties in Amsterdam. Datzelfde jaar lanceerden ze YardVibes, een streamingplatform met content van onafhankelijke Caribische en Afrikaanse filmmakers, waarop meer dan 100 titels beschikbaar zijn en online filmprogrammaโs worden aangeboden, zoals het jaarlijkse Global Extraction Film Festival (2020-2022). Africadelic is een non-profitorganisatie die zich sinds 2016 inzet voor de programmering en promotie van Afrikaanse en Afrikaanse diasporische culturele creativiteit, diversiteit en activisme in Nederland. Jaarlijks organiseren ze rond Internationale Afrikadag (25 mei) het Africadelic Festival in Paradiso en diverse andere partnerlocaties in Amsterdam. Dit jaar vond de 10e editie van het festival plaats van 21-31 mei 2025, met speciale aandacht voor het 50-jarig jubileum van de onafhankelijkheid (1975) van vijf Afrikaanse landen (Angola, Mozambique, Kaapverdiรซ, Sรฃo Tomรฉ & Prรญncipe en de Comoren) en Suriname.
